LANZAROTE WALL STONES
Many buildings in Lanzarote are built from local (lava) rocks. Their colours can vary greatly from sandy and reddish tones to deep black. The white painted rendering on the houses usually leaves some stones exposed to allow the wall to "breathe" in order to avoid damp in the winter. Where they are left bare they form irregular, abstract patterns.
