ABSTRACTS

Creating abstract images with the camera is one of my favourite approaches to photography. I am fascinated by shapes, forms, colours, textures and patterns which can trigger an emotional response particularly when looked at detached from the purpose of the object they form part of. The sources of my inspiration may be man made or naturally occuring. I try to give these shapes, forms and colours new meaning on a more abstract level for instance by looking from unexpected angles and viewpoints, or by creating an image with several layers. My hope is that the non-representational depiction of the world that surrounds us inspires the viewer to look beyond reality as we know it. ​
