BY THE LAKE

This is how my abstract photography began. Whilst waiting at my local bird reserve for the elusive bearded tits  to show on a cold winter's day, some dying reeds caught my eye. The graphical shapes of the kinked stems and their reflections on the surface of the water reminded me of characters in the japanese writing style which I admire. I tried to re-create these 'characters' by isolating the reeds from their surroundings in my images. Abstract photography had me hooked and the rest is history, as they say :-)

These and other images from the series 'By the Lake' were shown in a solo exhibition with Gallery 6, Newark, UK, in 2020.
